Hey guys, anyone know what it takes to look into the order system to see where in the process of build an ordered 2010 may be? How long before the dealer can see this information? When should i know a vin number?

I placed my order a month ago and the dealer has yet to give me any solid info as to when I am going to see this Tahoe. thanks in advance!

thanks ,
Bob

Have you escalated your request to management at the dealership you are working with? When I last placed a specific order it took about six weeks before the vehicle arrived... but the invoice was available prior to it arriving (this was 8 years ago though, things may not be the same )

When a dealer orders it, the order sits in an order bank until it is picked. Then it is given a build week, which is approximately when they will build it. When it is done, the dealer is billed and the invoice is created. then its listed as in-transit for up to a month until it shows up at the dealer.

So the dealer may not have any new info, and if they said they would call when they had an update, I'd wait for that to happen. The dealers don't get many updates on the progress of an order.

Once your vehicle was put into the dealers order system, they have to place it under a sold order priority, until then, it just sits in the allocation system and if they are not moving alot of Tahoes, they may not get one for allocation. Make sure that the put it in as a sold order. If not, contact the general manager of the dealership and threaten to take your business elsewhere...Once it has been allocated to the dealer, should only take 5-6 weeks before arrival. My father is a retired VP of sales at Pontiac/GM and now he runs a consulting company that does ordering for dealers.
