2010 Tahoe High Beam question.

Hello everyone! Im new here so please i apologize ahead if i posted this on the wrong section and/or if this question has already been answered but honestly i haven’t found an answer to it yet. I have a 2010 Tahoe LT with a 5.3 engine that appears to had been a PPV vehicle. My high beams aren’t working, fuses have power with the fuse meter when i pull the stalk and i even hear the relay clicking but lights are no good. Bulbs are good but there’s no power at the connectors which all points to the built in fuse box high beam relay being the problem and the only fix is to replace the whole thing. I honestly don’t feel comfortable enough to do this myself but i’ve done relay harnesses in the past for light bars and such. So my question is the following, can i just run a relay wiring harness directly into the high beams and have one of the high beam fuse (10A) as the trigger so it still comes on with the stalk? Or will it be too much overload? Thanks in advance to any responses.

I would look for cut wiring, when or if they removed the wig-wag they probably just left the wires cut.
if you do not know what a wig-wag is that is a device that makes the headlights flash on/off left&right back-n-forth.

Not uncommon. The contacts in the stalk can go bad. My 09 Esky is finicky on flash to pass (pulling) but running high beams pushing the stalk always works.

Thanks for mentioning it may have been a PPV. There may be leftover police components that are
holding back the circuit.

You can unbolt the fuse block base and clean the underside and contacts. You’ll also be verifying it’s torqued down enough.

If you have a police or highway patrol station nearby I’d suggest wandering around the back of the building toward the service bays with two boxes of doughnuts around 9am.

Ask the guy in the dirtiest overalls if he might know what it may be on your PPV while opening the top box of doughnuts. Keep one box with you til he agrees to look at it:chewie:
