2010 Yukon corrosion

My Yukon is rusting at the spot welds just above each rear wheel well. It's coming from the inside as I keep the entire vehicle nicely detailed. Dealership referred me to a shop that handles their bodywork. Body shop said rear quarters are one solid piece from roof to bottom of wheel well and would both need to be replaced to guarantee the repair(an expensive job). Body shop said they had never seen this on a Yukon or Tahoe and that this was definitely a job done wrong at the factory during build. Has anyone heard of this problem before and what are my chances calling GM to cover the repairs?

Give it a shot, but if you live in the rustbelt don't hold your breath, but you never know. Good luck
