2011 Avalanche Towing Capacity

Anyone know what this can tow? I have seen 5k online, but I also see the same year Cadillac EXT shows 7,600.

Comparing this to the Suburban, why would it only be able to do 5k? Softer suspension?

Axle ratio and the cooling system matters. Check your axle codes "G" on the RPO sheet on your glovebox door David. Also look for the "K" codes for K5L or KC4 or KNP.

She's set up for highway cruising not off-road bruising. KG3 is the 145 Amp Alternator. K47 is the High Capacity Air Cleaner.

If desired, you could always add the K5L Enhanced Cooling Package and change the axle ratio to whatever you wanted. If you ever have to replace the alternator, consider the KW1, 160 Amp Alternator.

You're limited to 5,100 pounds Max Trailer Weight and a GCWR of 11,000 pounds. Adding K5L and the 3.42 gear would give you 3,000 pounds more in both categories.

Got it. May be worht investing in an aftermarket cooler. Even for when not towing.
