Well I'm trying to see if anyone else has had a problem similar to this...

I have a 2011 Tahoe SSV and at 1500 miles I started to notice a very slight sound coming from behind the lower left dash area (to the left and under the instrument cluster) that sounds like air escaping. It is a very slight hissing sound similar to a house AC unit releasing pressure. It only does it when you have your foot on the accelerator and stops as the truck shifts gears. As the truck gets into gear you can hear it once again. The sound is there only under light or medium acceleration and is not there when you have your foot to the floor. It does not make the noise at idle or in park, only while actually driving. The other thing is it does not always do it, it comes and goes for some reason…

The dealer has had it for 1 week and cannot diagnose the problem. Only one of the service advisors and me can hear it. I was told they cannot find any exhaust leak anywhere on the truck and even tried plugging the muffler to see if any air was escaping anywhere else.

Has anyone else had this problem or anything similar? It almost sounds like a very slight exhaust leak from the driver’s side header gasket but I'm no mechanic. I am at a loss and so is the dealer...

OK the dealer tells me the hissing sound is "normal". According to my service writer a tech had an 07 and now has a 10 that does that same thing... Anyone else?

I have no idea what the hissing noise is, but it's definitely not an exhaust leak. You can rule that out. An exhaust leak due to a cracked exhaust manifold, failed gasket, rust hole, etc. will sound like a "tick"..... Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, etc......

Need to revive an old thread, a google search brought me here.
I just purchased a 2011 tahoe lt and have found the same issues as you. I had a tacoma that did a similiar sound but want to make sure this isn't an issue and I have yet to bring it back to the dealer. Has the dealer defininately said this is normal or was repair needed?
