2011 Tahoe PPV 8Cyl

Last night I noticed the rear lights on while the car was off and parked.
Woke up to a drained battery.
My guess is that the Brake Light Switch has gone bad.
I ordered a new one, got a jump this morning and replaced the Brake Light Switch. Now the car starts but it’s still not switching out of park. Also I’m noticing that the rear lights are still on. Particularly the white lights that alert drivers that my car is going into reverse. Also , I noticed a few wires hanging freely underneath the foot well near the gas and brake pedals.
I’m not sure if these wires are part of the PPV set up with this truck or something more.
I once owned a VW Touareg and had an issue where the truck wasn’t shifting out of park and it was because of a similar loose wiring situation. Once I married the wires off appropriately and taped them together I was then able to shift out of park.
I’m at my wits end and would appreciate any direction you guys could give me before breaking down and giving it to a shop to fix.

Thanks in advance

There are so many questions here, to fill a lot of void.

I think the vehicle wasn't properly shifted to park, by human error or mechanical, and the truck stayed "awake" and killed the surface charge on your battery.

1 - Is this a vehicle that you've owned for years, and this just happened? If so, do you leave your doors unlocked?

2 - If this is a "new to you" vehicle, which I hope it is, I will assume it is a PPV or SSV based on the rear crash bar instead of a hitch. Therefore I'd also assume some equipment was removed from the vehicle during a decommisioning, hence the hack job on the wiring.

If you have owned this vehicle for some time and this just happened, I am hoping for your sake that the wires just fell down after some time or maybe a kick panel/trim panel fell and brought the wires down with it. Otherwise, if you leave your doors unlock, I can only wonder that someone was messing around and not really know what they were doing under there (who knows, trying to steal it?). If you are figured out where the wires went and what to reconnect, I'd get them soldered and secured and keep on keeping on. If that is beyond your own capability, you can pretty much take that to any technician you'd trust to clean/sort/secure the wiring under the knee bolster area.

The four wires hanging down may be for a trailer brake controller. Red may be hot at all times (if the underhood connection is made) and the blue goes back to the 7-blade trailer wire connector. But they would all connect to a controller if there is one.

my first guess is that there is a issue with the "shift interlock" that is the only thing that would prevent you from shifting as long as the key is in the run position and the brake is working. sounds like it is out of sync which would explain the reverse lights being on
