2011 Yukon 6.2 Water Pump

I have a Yukon Denali that started to run hot and found the water pump having a leak dripping down. After looking it over, I could not see an issue with hoses, so assume the pump is out. I have removed it and cannot find a weep hole visible. One of the gaskets appears rather bad and I am wondering what would cause this and if this might be the source of my leak. Thoughts? I am doing as others suggest and replacing the pump, T-stat, AC belt, tensioner, pulley and lower hose. Mileage is about 145k. Does someone have torque specs on these they could share? Only finding them for the 5.3. Thanks.

They are the same for the 5.3 and the 6.2.
The documentation that I have calls for a two stage torque:
Step 1: 132 in-lbs
Step 2: 22 ft-lbs

That 132 in-lbs is about 11 foot-lbs... FYI

Those water pumps are known to go bad. Had one go out on my 6.0 GTO at 52k....6 yers old.

You probably were not paying attention but did the attaching bolts on the worse looking gasket seem to unscrew easier? Was the leak you saw from the area where that gasket is?

Unless you get new attaching bolts, I would clean the threads of the old bolts. I would run a tap in the bolt attaching holes.

This is a good idea. I would recommend a Bottoming Tap so you can clean up the threads further into the blind hole.

Thank you for the info/suggestions. The bad looking gasket was the one more under the alternator. I could not tell if the leak was from the gasket or coming from under the hub. The bolts all came off about the same and no noticeable difference when comparing them. Surprised one gasket appears rather good and the other so bad. Thanks again.

Got things back together and have a small leak out the side of the t-stat housing where it meets the pump. I have torqued to the right specs, so should I consider some gasket sealer?

Wasn't there an o-ring for the seal? You may have pinched it. I always use a thin film of grease to hold an o-ring in place but I guess you can use a thing film of sealer. Too much and it gunks up the thermostat.

I attached the t-stat housing to the pump before I installed the pump, just to help line that o-ring up horizontally as to not let it slip out of place. I'll have to take it off to see what the issue is.
