Hello, I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this. However i drive a 2012 tahoe, and just recently my linkage has been acting up. it started when the factory linkage part feel off while driving. I went to autozone and got the part and replaced it. however now it just falls off randomly. Seems to be mainly whenever i go into park so i have to reconnect it to change gears out of park. But the past few times iv been stuck in reverse with it. Anyone know any fixes for this?

Are you talking about the shift cable connection to the transmission? If not, what?

It is proper to replace the entire cable assembly.

I ordered the new GM cable from Rockauto with the intention to replace it. I said screw it and just swapped out the bushing. Expensive little bushing. Lol. Worked great.

These 1/2 cable kits are for when the expensive little bushing, little bolt and bailing wire hacks have left the shifter felling like stirring mamma’s Mac n cheese. Eventually you’ve gotta fix it so the Mrs. isn’t stranded with the kids on a 100+ day.

Our trans was sitting on top of a tool chest being rebuilt. The diesel tech didn’t have to ask me twice to fix it once.

after going thru a couple replacement parts that would also just "pop off" I drilled a small hole in the nipple and used a cotter pin
I ended up using a FITZALL T74498-1A replacement and went ahead and used my cotter pin fix as well and it has been fine for quite a while now
this would be the one needed for the 6l80
