I've got a 2012 Tahoe LT with 32K miles and the chrome is coming off the inside door handles on both front doors, most noticeable on the passengers door. It looks like there is a casting line at the top of the door handle that didn't get buffed smooth and along that line the chrome comes loose. It's sharp enough I cut my finger examining it. Anyone else had this problem?

Did the same thing on my new Suburban. My daughter cut her hand on the passenger door handle. GM offered to replace them under warranty very quickly.

It's not a casting line, it's chrome tape and it does tend to peel off on some vehicles. The dealer should replace them under warranty. I had mine done on my 07, haven't had the issue on the 2011 yet *crosses fingers*

There was a GM Service Bulletin #09239 that came out in July 2010 ordering dealerships to replace the chrome handles up to 10yrs/100k miles (whichever comes first) from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service regardless of mileage or ownership.

I had the Tahoe into the dealers yesterday. They ordered both front door handles, under warranty. Hopefully the chrome on the new handles will last longer than 25k miles. The Tahoe is my work truck and is used for field service work, with all the rear seating removed, so didn't bother with rear inside handles, as I never use them. Most of the trips are long runs of 3 to 6 hours, one way. Really odd the chrome wore off already.

I had this happen on my 08 Tahoe and both my 07 avy and esky. So yes needless to say this is a huge issue.

I haven't even heard of the dealers not replacing them for free.

Yea mine were all replaced for free under warranty. I was just saying GM needs some serious quality control.
