Don't you u have full coverage insurance on that 2012 Tahoe? Glad your alright!!! Where's the pics of the wreck?

Full coverage is something you have but hope you never have to use. If you owe a substantial amount of the loan you'll be lucky if the insurance company that totals it gives your enough to pay off the loan. And even if you own the vehicle without a loan you'll be lucky if you get enough from the insurance company to replace it for a like vehicle. Insurance companies pay actual cash value of the vehicle, well below what you can purchase one for.

Such things as GAP 'insurance' and some of the other add-ons that insurance companies and lenders have begun to sell will help cover that difference, I believe. Both times that I have had vehicles totaled, one payed well over what I thought the truck was worth, and more than I was actually about to try and sell it for... The other time, USAA payed me the cost of a comparably equipped replacement.

Care to elaborate a little?

Unless insurance payouts have changed in the last decade or so I haven't heard of insurance companies paying replacement cost for your vehicle unless you fall under a special category. It's one reason I have my Vette covered under collector's insurance where I purchase a policy based on agreed upon value versus ACV on a regular policy.

They must replace with like kind. They don't have to pay off your loan. Find 4 vehicles with similar miles and model. You should be able to get a replacement with no, to little out if pocket. You will still owe the difference plus new car payments.
