2013 Chevy Suburban LT heated steering wheel upgrade

I want to upgrade my steering wheel to a heated steering wheel. I would like to know if it possible for a plug and play, or would there have to be other wiring done to make it happen?

you need the steering wheel with heat option and a clock spring that matches it, then you just need to run a power wire to the clockspring from a accessory power source.
the clock spring sends the power to the steering wheel you just need to connect the power to the clock spring connector.
you want accessory power so that you don't ever even accidentally leave the steering heat button on and drain the battery.
you can find the bcm power pin outs with the gm upfitter guide which is free online

Prior to being an option on a particular vehicle we would need to add a wire like you mentioned but like adding a Cadillac or Denali dash in my 2005 in order to get a transmission temperature gauge where most of the wiring harnesses have the wiring for the gauge installed and you can just plug it in and enjoy it.

So what you are saying is I would need to add a power source and get a new clock spring with the heated steering wheel option?

it's the same thing lol
you have to have a steering wheel that heats and you have to have a clockspring that provides power to said heated steering wheel.
it wont work any other way
the clockspring needs to be connected to accessory power in order to send it to the steering wheel

and if said heated steering wheel and clockspring have radio buttons normally the buttons just work no further wiring needed, the only thing that needs a wire is the heat option
