wew...at least mine (a 2012) won't be the last one before they come out with the new redesign)...I kinda figured that 2014 will be the year...but I wasn't certain.

I'm curious what the redesign will bring. I will say this...if it's anything like what Infinity did with their QX, I'll be thrilled ;)....cause I really don't like that thing at all (no offense to anyone who may own one). The old QX was just an upscale Armada (which I loved)...when they came out with the new one, it was completely ruled out of my list of 'possibilities'. Still have to wonder if they will change the Armada to resemble the new QX...
Anyone got any info at all on the GM redesign?...I guess this has probably been the subject of plenty of discussions, no?
Thanks.

From everything I've seen the redesign for the SUV's was never to be before the 2014 model year with the redesigned pickups coming out in 2013. I looked at the Order Information for the 2013 Silverado that just came out and it still is the same design as the 2012. I also saw some conjecture that the SUV's would now be the 2015 model year. Of course this is all speculation as GM is being mum about it.

A 30 GB hard drive, huh? The iPod Touch that I use in my Tahoe has 35 GB worth of songs in it right now. So much for the GM audio/"navigation" system being used to store songs. I didn't even know you could buy such tiny hard drives anymore. :Big Laugh:

Maybe I'm wrong....but do any of these nav/mp3 systems use traditional spinning hard drives? If not, they're using flash memory (which would certainly make more sense)...in which case, 30GB is in the same range as many flash drives (from USB thumb drives to smaller SSDs)

If they are using traditional spinning hard drives...then, yeah...you're not kidding..where the hell do you get a 30GB hard drive? ;)

GM does use the term "hard drive". It's possible GM doesn't know what a hard drive refers to. But knowing GM, they're a decade or two behind today, so I expect they are installing one of those spinning dinosaurs in their God-awful outdated "system". :)

And GM refers to MP3. Geez, what a stinker of a way to save music. I don't have an MP3 file on anything I own. Of course, GM thinks Sirius/XM is high quality, too, and it's a poor way to listen to music. I'm surprised GM isn't still installing 8-track tape systems in 2013 models.

As much as I agree that these guys are dinosaurs...I have to think that they are at least current enough to be using solid state storage for their drives....I mean, spinning drives? The reliability of those things alone make them a bad choice for any system..no less one with 4 wheels, a suspension, and one subject to pot holes!

I'm not an audiophile...so I still make due with MP3s and XM/Sirius (yeah...I put XM first ;) Actually, I listen to talk radio for the most part...so satellite is a must. Podcasts are getting good now too, so who knows where that's gonna go.

Anyway...now I really wanna know :) What kind of drives are they using in these systems. If they are old school spinners, I've got a whole new...disrespect ;)

I don't know anyone who considers an SSD (solid state drive) to be a hard drive. So, I say go ahead and have a healthy dose of disrespect for the dumb-asses at GM who THINK they have a clue what they're doing and make reference to "hard drive". I've got four SSD's for my home computer. And we use SSD's at work for our laptops. GM on the other hand . . . floppy drives and hard disks and using the post office for navigation updates. Wonder if GM has heard about the Internet yet? :D

OK...well...not in the traditional sense..but when you order up a computer, it will spec out your SSD under the hard drive column...so call me old fashioned....and yeah...I only use SSD's at this point...along with old style drives in usually a mirror or sometimes a RAID 0 config...depending on my performance or redundancy requirements....none of this pertaining to anything GM is putting in their vehicles ;)
