Ok so my current 5.3 has failed due to the afm lifter. I am ordering a jasper reman with afm delete. Also plan on a install kit with the engine Plan on also replacing the valve covers due to right before failure engine started using a quart and half over 3000 miles. Are there any suggestions on any up upgrades or add on while the engine is out?

Your valve cover is the updated one so replacing it for that reason is a moot point.

You might consider putting in a billet torque converter. Try to determine what camshaft grind they are putting in the motor and if your vehicle will retain VVT or not.

Make certain the driver side valve cover is the upgraded cover, like the bottom one in this picYukon VCs.jpg

How many miles? My 2010 with the 5.3 is at 266,000 miles and I reprogrammed it to run in 4cyl mode more often and no issues, it doesn't even need oil added between changes.
