I haven't seen anyone post this up yet, but, I had my OEM Denali 22" wheels off cleaning the inside of them this afternoon. The chrome inserts are removable. There are 2 torx screws on the outside at the larger part of the insert and there is 1 torx screw on the inside of the wheel at the smaller part of the insert (near the center wheel hole)

I know some people opted not for $500-$900 (depending on how you package it, mine were $495 extra vs 20") OE Denali 22" wheels and paid the $2995 extra just cause they didn't want the chrome inserts. You could take those things off and either paint them black or dark silver/grey in just a couple of hours.

Just thought I would throw that out there to save some folks some $$$$$.

Oh wow that's good to know. I read on another post someone said they were fake screws and non-removable. Really glad they are real and can be removed.

And I though I was the only one who washed the INSIDE of the wheels hahahaha (do it every time I wash it).

Holy moly, you take the wheels completely off to clean them?! I use one of those bendy type brushes and just stick my hand and the brush in between each opening in the wheel. Very effective and gets the entire inside of the wheel clean. A little bit of a pain, but it has to be easier than dismounting/mounting each wheel.

Lol..I don't usually take them off. I had it on the lift doing the tow hook mod and popped them off real quick.

Anyone who doesn't clean the inside of their wheels should come spend some time at the shop with me and see all of peeling and flaking that goes on inside of these high end wheels that aren't properly maintained. It makes it impossible to get wheel weights to stick on a lot of them.

Yep my ck375 rep 22's are peeling/flaking. A combination of a rough winter in Denver, not properly maintaining them, and them being replica's and not OEM. Suckssssss. Guess I'll have to eventually sand blast/powdercoat them.

Salty winter roads are rough on wheels. Especially chrome ones. I maintained the crap out of my wife's factory upgraded chrome 20's on her '05 Denali and after several winters they were peeling. Not replica's either. Straight from GM.

Hopefully these painted jobby's on her yukon now will last a little longer. If not, to the powdercoater they go.

Gotchya.

It drives me nuts when people spend a while "cleaning" there vehicle and they dont wash the inconspicuous areas like the back side of the wheels, door jams and the wheel wells.

So when the inserts are removed, do the screw holes stick out like a sore thumb?

My set came with a bag containing 4 allen wrenches. I thouht the screw heads were just for decoration when I bought them, glad to see they are functional.

Yeah - def wouldn't want to rock them without the inserts. Everyone is all about that plastidip (I personally hate it and think its ridiculous on a 70k vehicle) but these inserts might actually be one thing that would qualify for plastidip. Take them off, "dip" them and put em back. Don't like the look = tear it off. No harm, no foul.

Yeah I posted up in your other post about your wheels. Those things look legit. I checked out that guys website and he seems to have some nice wheels. It would be nice to have a person local like that.

Does anyone know of a place to get replacement inserts for a decent price??

Which wheels...these?

Got pics with the inserts removed? I've always passed these over because I thought the screws were fake. But if it makes modding them easier...hmmm...
