Evening all!

Got a Custom Diablew Tune for the 2015 PPV and must say, I'm pretty impressed. According to the Trinity, 0-60 went from an average of three best stock runs of 6.78 to 6.54 (again, an average of the best three runs), same road, within 5 degrees ambient and 10% relative humidity (this is with the custom 87/89 tune). Not sure how accurate the Trinity is for a time to distance measurement (pretty sure it doesn't use GPS), but the improvement should be fairly consistent. Before the tune, truck was averaging 18.4mpg over four tanks of fuel (all I drove after purchase / before the tune). In the three fill ups subsequent the tune, the average mpg has been 19.7. Both figures were calculated by hand, fill-up at the same gas pump at the same time of day. I'd say that's a pretty reliable representation of what the tune can do. It's also gotten rid of the AFM which has made the truck much more pleasant to drive on the road.

The one thing I've been communicating with Lew about today, and there seems to be some confusion (in other words, I'm likely not listening correctly ;) ): how do you change when the cooling fans come on? From what I can research online, the new body style Tahoe (L83) utilizes a 187 degree thermostat (like the older body style), but runs right around 210 degrees. Obviously great for emissions, not so great for power. I'm thinking that turning on the fans around 197-200 should allow the thermostat to be fully open and keep the coolant temps right there (200). This will also help keep the transmission fluid temps down since the cooler is on the end of the radiator. I do not see that parameter as adjustable within the Trinity, is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

Check with Diablo...there may be a Fan Temp upgrade for the Trinity. I know my In Tune 2 has it.

Your performance is very good for 87/89 octane fuel...my 2016 Yukon with the 3:42 rear axle tuned to 93 plus a few extras that I threw in is running an average of 5.85 0-60 according to G-Tech. I may change my Fan settings and thermostat. My best runs were at night with the ambient temp below 80* F....I can barely break 6 seconds flat when it's 90 plus outside.

I'm curious Brian, with it being a PPV does it have different fan settings? I ask because I always get "WOW" comments about how loud my fan is when I turn it on with keyless start. Maybe it's because it's summer in Alabama, but maybe since it's beefed up in other areas and police officers tend to let their units run all the time (love fuel man card) is it possible it's more than civilian model?

Also curious, due to extra battery, different alternator if there are any issues with cold air intake fitting?
Thanks

Chris:

Based on my research, I believe there is no difference in the fans, setting or design / flow. My PPV runs the same temp as any other 'regular' Tahoe I've been in.However, I have read conflicting data on whether or not the 'new' body style PPVs have a radiator from a 6.0 engine. I believe the 2014 and older units had the larger 6.0 radiator to help with cooling.

You knocked about 2.5 seconds off of your 0-60 time with just that tune and an intake/exhaust? That's amazing....

Actual...maybe a second....my Yukon has always felt "snappy" from day one. No changes to the OEM Intake or Exhaust. In driving Yukons and Tahoe's with 3.08 gears I feel a significant difference in the acceleration vs. 3.42's with no other changes. Once the tune is applied it becomes even more noticeable.
