Cash for Clunkers screwed over the used car situation

I'm looking to get a 2nd Tahoe and the used prices are outrageous. 2013 models are still selling in the $30,000's. I looked at a 2013 LT yesterday for $33k

Buy new if budget can support. You get the new rig, typically a better APR, and will pay writhing $5k of a used model

Not to mention hopefully all the 2015 bugs will get ironed out

Considering how close in cost they are, I wouldn't even bother looking for a used one. Finding one without leather is going to be hard but shop around or just bump to the next model. Make sure you look up the price and pay under INVOICE for it and no where close to sticker MSRP. I'd stay with a 2016 for AppleCarPlay alone not to mention all the other bugs that some are experiencing. Our 2016 so far (knock on wood) has been perfect... :D

I was wrestling with the same thing. I had on order a 2016 Yukon, but after reading about the 6.2 engine....I had to have it in the Denali. I saved about 2,500 with my supplier discount and got the 15 Denali vs. the 16 Yukon. The book is close after 4 years or so.
I sold my 2015 Tahoe LT (with leather bench coincidentally) to switch to an Escalade with 6.2.

There isn't anything wrong with the 5.3. The 6.2 is just fun and cost about the same to drive.

IMO You will have a hard time finding 2015 with leather bench seats.

This is true. My 2015i SLT has leather bench seats bc I have kids and it was the only one with a leather bench on the lot lol. OP, if you still haven't bought one mine is for sale with only 4k miles. JUST got laid off so gotta downgrade unfortunately. PM me if you wanna see some pics!

I just went through this exercise. Nearly all of the used 2015s were prior rentals. They were commanding a really high price because the 2015 was desired much more than 2014s, due to the model change. I just couldn't justify getting a used one since the markdown wasn't significant enough. I ended up getting a new 2015, which was much cheaper than new a 2016.

The vehicles haven't changed in price, you should have been able to purchase a 2016 for a similar price as a 2015 (currently no rebates on either). The only difference would be a couple coupons for $500 Farm B or USAA discount $750, etc. Otherwise no difference in price at all if the dealer is willing to move vehicles. Once rebates come back you might save more but right now that's not the case..
