I had the same issue. After much research... and don't forget.. youtube is your friend.... I decided to order
a replacement antennae.... followed instructions from youtube....and did the replacement in about 30 mins...and bingo.. everything is working fine. Water gets into the antennae and corrodes. After I loosened the bottom retaining bolt under the antennae.... and started to lift it... water just poured out from the inside.

My SXM antenna had water retention & corrosion problems which was causing very weak SXM reception. I ordered a new antenna and used silicone sealant with the gasket already on the antenna to keep water from being admitted underneath of the antenna. I now have SXM reception!

I had the same issue. The old antenna had a drain gap in the rear of the gasket so water was running underneath of the antenna with no place to go. The new antenna had the drain gap in the front and I was concerned that water would be blown into the gap so I used black silicone to seal the entire gasket before mounting the antenna. It's nice to have great SXM reception again!
