Dust cap off of what?
Flickering?
The only time they flicker is during ignition.
Again, if you buy a quality set of bulbs and ballasts like Phillips, there are no problems.
Buy Chinese stuff and then you open yourself up.
My wife's Tahoe was running Phillips for 5 years without a single problem. Same thing in my 11' Silverado and F-350. Never a problem.

X2. Buy the Chinese eBay cheapo hid kits and they will go out within a year and flicker. Buy Morimoto or Philips aka quality HID and you'll be good to go. Once you get a good set it's hard to go back to stock.

I'll second the Philips genuine HID kits and bulbs.

I know I'm the lone ranger on this, but IMO that Morimoto (aka rebranded Chinese garbage that TRS stands behind) crap is junk. I've used it and had terrible luck.

What were your specific issues?

Headlight bulbs

Hey, how hard is it to swap bulbs? On my 2010 tahoe you had to open the wheel well to get to the 3rd mount on each side. I put silver star ultras in it but was pissed everytime one went out.

The driver side is really simple, the passanger side you have to remove the air box to get to it..

For what it's worth, you should really avoid the 6000K kits. The 4300k and 5000k kits are the best for light output. I agree, the 6000k is most aesthetically pleasing, since there's a nice blue tint, but the lumens rating of the 6000k kits is much lower than 4300k and 5000k. I put 5000k in all my vehicles. It's pure white. No yellow, and no blue.

I agree that the 4300 temp is generally considered brighter. Have a set in my Ford F-350.
However I ordered a set of Phillips 6000k for my Silverado, and they are crystal clear white, and not blue at all. I do not believe Phillips offers a 5000k.
I was so impressed, I bought another set for my wife's old Tahoe.

So, do not be afraid of the 6000k Phillips. In fact, they are the perfect color temp, IMO.
But I also agree that other brands of 6000k may not be the same color temp that Phillips puts on their 6000k set. If not sure of the brand's color, I would go with the 5000k to be sure.

I did the Silverstar option and I'm pretty happy with them. My truck is a lease so I won't do HID's...

I ran LEDs for my low beams. Big difference. I had HId in my challenger but wanted to try this so I didn't have a big bulky ballast to install. Works great and just as bright if not brighter than HIDs.
