So I have this nice new Yukon with a keyless push to start button. It also has...
•37 dash buttons,
•8 dash knobs,
•13 steering wheel buttons,
•13 door buttons,
•1 shifter with a 3 buttons,
•1 multi-functional stalk,
•3 toggle switches
•8 roof buttons,
•6 exterior buttons,

But I still can't figure out how to shift to neutral without starting the engine. A person pushes the start button without stepping on the brake to get acc.

Tried pushing the start button twice fast, twice slow, all the way to 10 times fast, holding button for a bit, hold the button and pull down on shifter, hold button and then step on brake pedal and still can't figure out how to get a "run" but engine off sequence.

After turning wrenches for years in my previous life, I bowed down and called the dealer. Two hours later I get a return call, saying don't know, might not be able to. WTF? Is GM serious?

Oh lets not forget all of the virtual reality buttons on the display!

There's gotta be a way. I have thought about this too. Just haven't explored it.

Once in ACC mode you can't step on brake and shift into Neutral? Doesn't say in the manual? How can it be towed then?

That would be the logical easy way, but no, should have stated that I tried that first.

Nother reason to have a "run" position w/engine off would be to test turn signals bulbs. Turns don't work with key off. Rest of tbe lights you can check with key off/headlight switch on.

Its easy to get to "key on"

Get in - don't touch brakes.

Long press on/off/start push button on dash for 10-15 seconds.

Everything comes on as normal and it will shift into neutral.

I use this all the time when I'm cleaning the truck. I use it to pair phones, etc when I don't want the truck running in the garage.

I am still amazed at the complete lack of knowledge of the dealers selling this product. The customer basically is out of luck with anything more than basic troubleshooting - like how to unlock and lock and maybe remote start if your lucky! lol

Just read the manual. It states that one can shift out of park in acc mode while pressing brake. THIS IS INCORRECT on my truck.

It also describes Service Mode Only, what i was after, push and hold for MORE than 5 seconds. I previously gave up when the DIC lit up and said press brake to start.

If you keep holding the button, which seems like forever, it will light up the whole dash and instrument panel. At that time I can shift to neutral.

Glad I found this, before actually needing to.

So, do I take this up with service that I can not shift to neutral in acc mode? As in something is wrong? And I guess my dealer/service hasn't had to put a Push To Start vehicle into service mode. I will inform them of Service Mode. This is a Certified Service Dealer, whatever that means.

Text search on the PDF versions of the Owner's and Intellilink manuals is very handy. More handy than the dealer.

Shameful dealer didn't know and unwilling to find answer. This system is in use other GM vehicles as well.

Has me wondering - how do you get to neutral if battery is dead?
