my new 2017 shakes like this as well occasionally at traffic lights in Drive. I've watched the RPM and it stays constant, but definitely feels like its barely misfiring at times. Complete crap for a 60K + vehicle.

I had this issue on my 2017 Tahoe LT 2WD (purchased 12/16) and the dealer replaced the motor mounts with no change. My contact at the Arlington, TX, GM assembly plant found a service repair order that essentially diagnosed the issue as a bad negative battery cable but could also be bad ground connection. This was found by checking vehicle for DCTS and multiple communications DTCS were found set in the history (check bulletin PIT5405C). They replaced the negative battery cable and reset DTCS but I do not have any further info on how effective this was.

My experience is that good electrical grounds are critical to the proper functioning of the electronics in today's vehicles and bad grounds can lead to odd issues which are very difficult to diagnose correctly.

I no longer have that Tahoe since it was traded in on another 2017 LT but with 4WD. So far this one does not have the rough idle but it only has 700 miles on it.

Did you notice if the rough idle stopped after the negative cable were changed?

The vehicle that was serviced was not mine. This was reported by my contact at the Arlington assembly plant. It may have been a vehicle from a customer and they have pulled the info from the service history. I have no further info but it worth investigating, especially checking for the DTCS history and/or letting the dealer know about the service bulletin.

Mine has not started with the rough idle but if it does I will be talking to my dealer about this info.

Just found this thread has anyone had a resolution to this rough idle? Bought 2017 Tahoe last November and I am coming to conclusion I should have stayed with Ford. Any success around lemon law or class action?

I had a 2015 Tahoe that was doing this exact same thing, it was so bad the dealership bought it back. I then purchased a 2016 Tahoe that is having the rough idle issue!! GM said replace the motor mounts, I'm 1,100 miles out of warranty so I have to pay out of my pocket for the motor mounts. Is this a sure fix? The dealership says probably not. I have been going back and forth with GM about this and they refuse to be of any assistance to me. Possible Lemon Law case here, maybe even class action lawsuit. GM is aware of this issue and can't get their acts together to fix the problem.
Since a child, my family has always been a GM/Chevrolet loyalist. My first car was a Camaro led then by an Oldsmobile Alero, Cadillac CTS, Equinox, Impala, and now on my 2nd Chevrolet Tahoe. My parents, have had countless Silverado’s, and to this day own one, in addition to their Avalanche and Impala. There has never been any vehicle registered to us outside the GM family…

Here is my story of GM failing me.

January 2016, I purchased a 2015 Tahoe. Within the first year, this truck was inoperable, Cam/Lifter went out. December 2006 I had this all replaced (6 weeks in a truck borrowed from a friend). Ungodly amount of repairs, but luckily, I was still under warranty. Since then,

2017-2018 Repairs (all out of pocket)

ü All Outside Trim Panels All replaced $300.00

ü A/C went out. $350.00

ü A/C went out again, 3 weeks later, this time condenser ($500.00)

ü 2018, conveniently after 100K mark, lifters, cam etc goes out again. The exact same faults that happened previously. Estimate 5K-15K depending on if new motor needs put in.

ü Loaner again for 3 weeks to figure out what to do.

ü Chevy Dealer says “ we have never seen anything like this”

ü They called GM also, again sorry for your luck.

ü Tires, breaks, etc etc.

I contact GM/Chevy, multiple times, and all I got, “Sorry for your luck” with NO ASSITANCE. Your out of warranty, doesn’t matter you have a Lemon, but sorry.

July 2018, I have a truck that I can’t afford to fix, without risk of knowing would reoccur, I have no choice but to contact a friend that is a Dealership Manager for Toyota. He offers to help me, even though his location isn’t Chevy, still goes out of his way to take the “Lemon” from me and put me into, (against his wishes) but another Tahoe. This time, 2016, 60K miles, LTZ. Less than 3 days of owning the truck,

ü A/C Goes out

ü Side Trim Pieces fall off

ü DVD Player stops working

Of course the Toyota Dealership took care of all the repairs for me at no charge because that is what a good company would do.

ü Fixed A/C at no charge

ü Couldn’t repair DVD Player

ü Set me up in a Toyota Loaner at NO CHARGE

Now, 3 weeks later…. (30 days since purchase)

ü A/C Out again, compressor,

ü Dealership has me in yet another Toyota Loaner

ü Now having to utilize extended warranty that I bought 30 days ago because Chevy won’t cover A/C after 60K miles (which shall I note, both Tahoe’s stopped working after 60K)

Why is it that a Toyota dealership is the only ones willing to help me? Why is it that Chevy, refuses to help or even make a statement, other than, “Sorry it’s out of warranty?” This is the 4th time in 1 year I have had a CHEVY truck in for A/C repair, and coincidentally it’s the same issue?? And what do they say about it? “Out of warranty” and “It’s now not at a certified GM dealer)

ü Your GM Certified dealership didn’t fix the 2015 correctly the first time.

ü You assured me you would assist them in making the correct repairs

ü They didn’t

ü GM offered me ZERO assistance other than an apology, Toyota stepped up and STILL put me in a GM truck.

I messaged the CEO, I was routed to a “special care specialist” “Emily” as she would be in the best position to assist. Emily called me, her exact words “you traded in your 2015, what exactly you would like for me to do?” I said, ok, how about the 16? Emily says “it’s not at a certified GM dealership what do you expect me to do?”

ME: So far upside down in debt because of GM and their faulty trucks…Speechless….

Sincerely,

Jessica

I had this rough idle issue and I recently took my 2015 Chevy Tahoe to my local Chevy dealer and the service writer informed me about some updated engine mounts. They performed an induction service and replaced the engine mounts under powertrain warranty and now my Tahoe idle is smooth.

I own 2 Chevy Silverado’s and 1 Tahoe. Bought my 2016 Silverado 1500 New nd about 9k Miles the rough idle started. Dealer replaced motor mounts and seem to fix the problem. I get the occasional rough idle every once in a while but not bad. My 2017 1500 same thing and the dealer said the Maf sensor needs to be cleaned. Didn’t fix the issue. Brought it back and they couldn’t duplicate the issue. Brought it back again and drove with a tech and he said it needed motor mounts. Installed new mounts and didn’t fix the issue. Next they said to bring it back to do some pico testing for the engineer. Gm Carr said they wouldn’t buy it back either. Just recently bought a 2016 Tahoe lt and noticed the rough idle going thru a drive thru. It’s getting so frustrsting that the dealers are just saying it’s normal to everyone. I’ve only owned Chevy trucks and now it makes me want to get rid of them all for the lack of response Chevy is giving us all. Wonder if Cadillac has the same issues?

I know it is an old thread but it appears to be that 2018 has the problem too.
My 2018 Yukon 5.3 4x4 6-speed idle seems to be unstable when both fully warmed up or cold, in D and in P.

Problem:
When I stop this 2018 5.3 4x4 6-speed Yukon SLE at the traffic while transmission is in Drive (fully warmed up engine) the idle is "fluttering" (feels like heart misses a half-beat, tach needle moves a tiny bit too). When engine is cold I also feel that "flutter". Same happens when the transmission is in "P" too. In "P" RPMs do increase but that does not seem to cure the flutter.

From reading this thread it appears to be that folks are having 50/50 chance of getting it fixed. Any advice from the folks on how to get the dealer to "see" it, I am reading that "normal" is what the dealers say to many. I am taking it to an independent mech to get them to document the flutter and paying for it but truck is in warranty. If documented I will bring it to the dealer and will get them to take that into account.

Given that flutter is in P, D and with slight RPM increase still does not go away, is it engine mounts vs. everything else?
