Like title reads. Wifes 16 suburban with 76k just ate a trans. Started shuttering slightly at 30 40mph with light throttle. Then started squealing bad all within 30 miles of each other was able to get it to dealer they said they suspect the torque converter failed and pump shit out said would be 4900 said thanks but no, brought it to reputable trans shop he said very common the Torque converters come apart and clog filter and burn up pump trans etc. said he’s done a lot of them and has a 15 in rate now same issue. He replaces all worn parts and installs better aftermarket TC and valve body/ re works VB 3400 give or take. Didn’t do a lot of digging on here but just seeing who else has ran into this problem. Just a heads up. Love the truck other than junk GM parts

havent had any issues yet. then again im only at 60k now.
figured if i were to have issues, i would have already had them, since i drive hard.

good luck on your rebuild
the 3k range seems to be what others i have read have been reporting.

Is that an 8-speed? If not, it's not very often we learn of problems with the 6-speeds.

I actually just responded to a transmission post and mentioned torque converter failure.
You have to replace that torque converter with a heavy duty and change the megatron and valve body along with the rebuild

2016 at 92k miles. Trans had no signs of issues. Pulled off from a stop and when it went to 3rd it was gone. Pan is full of trash.
