Less than 4K miles. Was pulling into a parking spot and sounded/felt like I had 4 flat tires. Left the parking spot wondering if it was loose rock or something on the surface. Then I hear a "clunk" and all is good again. Look at the transfer case swtich and it is in 2WD. Tried parking in 2WD and no issues. Switched to 4WD to replicate the sound and sure enough that was it. Somehow suburban had switched to 4WD on its own. Research shows they had past issues with a software glitch shifting from 4WD to neutral. But this seems like a different issue. Will have to keep watch to see if it happens again.

Note - I'm a longtime 4WD multiple SUV owner and would not knowingly shift into 4WD on a nice, dry summer day.

Wow that's crazy! Even more so reason for me to find a 4x2 since I don't need the capabilities...

My son and wife have accidentally done that in both my pickup and Tahoe - So are we sure it wasn't done by accident at some point, before knowing if there's a glitch to it?

It 100% shifted on its own into and then out of 4WD with no human input. I noticed it was driving funny in this parking lot, as if the tires were flat. Then I backed out of a parking spot and started making a turn and then heard it (or something in the truck make a clunk noise) disengage and then all was good and 2WD again.

I pulled into a parking space to try to replicate the flat tire feeling in 2WD. but it drove fine. Then I engaged 4WD and parked again and replicated the flat tire feeling/4WD traction on dry pavement thing.
