Looking to purchase my first Tahoe. Have been looking at mostly 2015 but there seems to be a lot of issues with the AC Condenser failing and it being an expensive fix. So far I haven't found as many complaints about the 16 AC Condenser but I wanted to post here and see if you guys knew if they were having the same issues.

With that being said, I'm currently looking at a 16 LTZ with 98k miles on it for $27k. Give me your pros and cons on the 2016 models and whether or not I should be interested in this vehicle. Thanks in advance.

The GM ac condenser issue is/was a problem I believe up to 2018, some were warrantied and replaced, you could always check the carfax if it is not listed on there then go by any local gm dealer and ask them to look up service records by the vin number.

When they are replaced, are they replaced with a better part or is it just the same part stuck right back on? Full disclosure, I'm not a car guy at all which is why I'm turning to you guys for help!

Late to your thread, but my 16 LTZ has not (so far ) had this issue, and I've had it for 1.5 years - Car Fax previous does not show it's been done. I've done brakes/exhaust by choice though.

If you have the original Condenser it will eventually go belly up. At 98K miles it probably was done already. Mine [2016] went out at 80K miles but most went out a lot earlier.

With that said that would not stop me from buying the vehicle if I really liked it.

Make sure you get ALL service records. If possible have a independent mechanic check it out from top to bottom to be safe from any issues you might have missed. Just IMHO.

Welcome from Miami Beach!

I bought a 2016 Certified Tahoe LT and the AC was a recurring issue. It is fine now but they replaced 3 AC lines, condenser, and rear evaporator all under the Certified warranty.
