I had to have my 6L80 in our Escalade rebuilt about a year ago, all new internals with upgrades, I pulled the tranny and installed after. $2500 for the rebuild and $500 for the new TECHM. They are a lot of work to R&R but it worked like brand new after. My tranny at 175,000 suddenly started going into neutral if accelerating hard or pulling a trailer, I think it was on the 2-3 shift. On tear down my tranny internals were good but the TECHM had failed, I could have just repalced that part but at 175,000 I decided to rebuild the tranny also. The $5500 quote seems very high to me.
Are most of these failures the 6 speed or 10 speed trannys?
