It does. The controls go through the cluster, without the proper cluster and wiring, it won’t work.

The clock spring replacement might be all that’s needed for the older 07-14 Tahoe’s, but the 15+ is different.

If you want to go ahead and do and prove me wrong, please do.

I'm just curious where you got that info, I have read on another forum where a person did exactly what the op wants and they said it was very simple

For 2007-2014, that is the correct procedure. The 2015+ is different. If you don’t believe me, give it a shot. Where is the link to the other forum that says replacing the wheel and click spring is all you need to do? And it was done...and it actually worked?

he talks about adding the leather steering wheel and putting a blank cover for the dic/phone controls on instead for the time being then he mentions it again on the 2nd page

Maybe you misunderstand? The steering wheel fits and cruise control buttons work fine. That post just reconfirmed that his stereo controls didn’t work either, so he took them off and replaced the buttons with a blank panel.

I’m not sure what you’re not understanding here?

I'll take you word for it that he may have removed them for that reason I don't see where he stated that anywhere, I was just wondering where you found out the radio controls will not work with the ppv unless you change the cluster for future reference.

Why would you remove the buttons to change stations, options, phone etc? I chose to keep mine on the wheel thinking I was going to complete the upgrade, but it’s too expensive. There are companies that upgrade your gauge cluster (reprogram) and they shared that information with me. Only specific gauge clusters will work with your truck since it depends on the radio/HMI units you got and what year vehicle they were sourced from. Everything changed for the 2015 model year.

I love creative swaps like this. Nothing like a good rewiring.

bummer....during my drive home from Chi Motors today with my new '18 PPV 4WD I noticed it had a LOT of controls on the wheel.....SUPER SUPER surprised it DID NOT have VOLUME CONTROL!?!?! WTF.....super lame.

Figured that since my '09 was a simple steering wheel swap that I could do the same on the GEN4 Tahoes......after reading this I guess that is not true :(
