2017 Yukon build - just put on 24s now have bump steer like symptoms

I don’t have experience with the Yukon’s but my esky corners amazingly well compared to my previous generation without any suspension mods.

They are the same OE sways across the platforms and yes they are already good... but imagine 30% stiffer than stock in front and 80% stiffer than stock in the rear!

You may want to have the hub bore on the wheels checked. If the hub bore on the new wheels does not match with the car (78mm) you will get vibrations. If your hub bore is higher than 78, then you will need hub rings.
Also would not hurt to check how tight the wheels are torqued to. Should be anywhere between 120-140 lbs.

I did my own research on the Dub Future in the GM bolt pattern and +30 offset. It has a 78mm hub so that is not your issue.
The only other thing I can think that will cause vibrations is a bad balance, torque values on the wheels, or the rotor clips that I remember from back in the day.
I am not sure if yours has them or not, but previously GM would put these little washer like clips on the rotors to stop them from moving doing production.
The stock wheels have an indention on the back to go around the clip so that the wheel can still hug the rotor pad surface.
Aftermarket wheels may or may not have that indention. If they do not, then the wheel does not sit flat on the rotor and will cause vibrations. All you have to do it take off the little clip.
It will be around one of the lug studs on each corner. Sometimes they are only on the rear axle.

Normally I would have gone with a bad tire(s) but you're not running a cheap/off brand tire so I'm going to have to agree with what others have said and go with a bad balance. Also it might be worth it to take the truck to a shop that specializes in mounting and balancing large diameter wheels and tires. On a previous vehicle that ultimately ended up being the solution to my vibration issue.... I just took my truck to a shop that knew what they were doing. 24's are not that uncommon anymore but there are still plenty of tire shops in my area that won't touch them because the shops do volume work and don't have the time to invest in getting a custom wheel & tire combo balanced correctly.

Question for @Modded - Aren't you the one with the blacked out Yukon SLT on 26's? Curious to know if you are having any vibration issues at any speeds with your setup?

I'm getting ready to install front/rear sway bars and dropping the rear 2" so when I'm working on that i will take off the wheels check for those clips, rotate & torque all the rims to see if that makes a difference. If i still get the vibration after that i will find a shop who has a more precise balancing machine and see where that takes me.

Will keep you guys posted.

Yes I am the owner of that Yukon and I have no vibrations at all! All the way up to 100 mph.

View attachment 193186 Whats up fellas - don't really post on these forums much but looking for some input on a few things. And appreciate ahead of time all of the responses.

First thing i did was drop the stock rims and throw on some 24s -

DUBS Future 24x10 +30 offset
Pirelli 305/35R24

This is where I started getting the bump steer like symptoms with vibration at 70-85mph. Before with stock rims it rode like a dream. I went back to place where I got rims installed- balanced and got an alignment. Helped the vibration a little bit but still have the bump steer like symptoms. Any ideas on this? I read other threads and some people recommended hub centric rings. So i will give those a shot.

But wondering if I need to upgrade sway bar or steering stabilizer?

Also looking to level out my ride just thinking dropping the back 2"? I live in Minnesota so don't want to get too aggressive but get a better look. Any suggestions on which leveling kit to get?

And if i were to upgrade sway bar & steering stabalizer any suggestions on that?

This is gonna sound weird. I have a problem with the same pirellis. I tried to have them road forced balanced with a reputable tire shop this morning. The manager called me back into the shop and showed me the tires had a problem. The wheels were spinning true and I could see the tread on the tires all over the place. He told me he sees it happen occasionally but to see two was something he had never seen. After the front two tires, I had him stop and told him I’d have the original shop take a look at them. Told me to take them back to the place I bought them to warranty them. He told me if I had a problem with the original shop that he would jump in and help me out. Maybe we got a bad batch? Something to look at. Hopefully you just need a proper balance. Goodluck

FWIW, my BMW had Pirellis, and they were junk. Vibration and right pull. Thankfully they went bald at 12k miles. Albeit, a way different tire but same brand.

I have vibrations also, But mine are intermittent, above 70 mile an hour it’ll shake a little bit but go away within five minutes, I was thinking maybe the mrc??
