I've always had BFG All Terrains on my previous tahoes and am going to put them on this one as well. I also put 285's on in the past with no alterations and had a little rubbing on big changes in grade but not much. This also seemed to be what everyone was doing.

On the new Z71 Tahoes, most people seem to be putting on 275's instead. Has anyone put 285's on the 18 inch rim? See my tahoe below and the specs of the 275 and 285

This website is very useful. Go to the "Tire Comparison" where you can enter the different sizes of two tires. The system will give you comparative dimensions and revs/mile, and also speedometer inaccuracy resulting from using tires of a size other than whatever the truck is expecting.

In your case, it looks like the 285 tire would be about a half inch taller than the 275 and just under a half inch wider. And, it would be an inch taller and .8" wider than the OEM 265/65. Unless you have your speedometer recalibrated, when it says you're going 70MPH you'll really be going 72.2MPH.

Hope that helps.

ended up going with the 275. One of the guys at the tire shop I use said he put 285's on his tahoe and it rubbed so he had to put a leveling kit on. I really didnt want to do that so I just went 275

No rubbing at all with the 285. I actually regret not going bigger. No lift and fits fine

Dahui -

I love my BFG KOs on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door. But because I already have that 4x4 vehicle, I'm going to run more street tires on my '16 Yukon. Your truck is awesome though! If I didn't have the Jeep, I would set my K2XX up like yours!

I bet that ride is really smooth on all that rubber. You have 7.3" of rubber between your wheel and the road - 1.3" more than the OEM 275/55/20 tire that comes stock on my vehicle. How's the ride, then, as well as the highway noise? These trucks are pretty quiet with the windows up anyway...

Really pretty truck, man.

I'm hearing the 285/65/18 is too big for the stock rim on my '17 Z71?? ? Is that true?? My guy (Red Box Store) who usually treats me right says 275 is the biggest tire on an OEM wheel. I am looking at Michelin Defender LTX M/S to replace the Goodyears.
Thanks!

With a 2” front level, a little metal cutting, and pinning back the liner, you can go 35”.
