2018 Tahoe 4WD with 80K miles - needs a new 10 speed

So we have a 2018 Tahoe 4WD with the 10 speed and about 80K miles. It started the shuddering/vibrating at times like you're driving over those rumble strips on the side of the road to tell you you're drifting out of your lane. Took it in, and the dealer said the torque converter inner workings were coming apart and the whole trans has to be replaced because of the metal that was distributed inside through the trans fluid. Thankfully, we still have an extended warranty for another 18 months, but they said the transmission is on backorder and no ETA on when they will get it. I even tried looking up the part # (24296231), and every site I come across says it's discontinued. WTH?

Does anyone know if there's a new part number? Thankfully they were able to give us a loaner Silverado, but we'd still like our Tahoe back at some point.

Well that sucks, but it seems like you have a good dealership that gave a loaner right off the bat. With all the mess-ups GM has going for them recently, the waiting game seems normal unfortunately.

I just don't think I've seen a part go discontinued without a new part # to replace it on a vehicle/generation that isn't all that old. I do agree that the dealership was nice to set us up with a loaner, 2025 Turbomax crewcab with 1800 miles.
