2019 or 2020?

Hi, new to this forum. I'm in a spot trying to decide on getting a 2019 Denali or waiting on the new model. Currently have an 03 Trailblazer V8 with 237k miles. It's in really great shape and have been a great vehicle. It probably needs some suspension work which I plan to tackle soon.

Of course we know the details of the 2019 and it looks like the last year for a solid rear axle. That's hard to beat for durability and simplicity. Not sure about the styling on the Sierra Denali, which I would expect to carry over to the Yukon Denali.

Anyone have thoughts to share? I'd appreciate your feedback.

good question, such a short production run makes me wonder if they gave up trying to fix the various issue's, and a new model design is scary

So life long GM guy, but new to the Tahoe/Yukon platform. What issues do you speak of?

Look around the forum. Buffeting and booming, vibrations, interior rattles, exterior trim and so on. Not everyone experiences any of these and has no issues. But go to any forum of any manufacturer and there are issues. Owners come to forums to share or complain. We all try to help each other and figure out a resolution and not everything discussed on forums are problem related. Welcome and hope you enjoy your new ride.

That sounds pretty typical of any GM vehicle. I get the buffeting on my 14 Sierra 2500 and my 94 GMC Suburban 2500 diesel. Minor rattles, I can fix. Want to avoid any big ticket things like brake issues or bead engine seals. Had to replace the lower oil pan on my 14 Sierra. I think the consensus was that the robot that applied oil pan sealer was hung-over!!

The buffeting with these trucks is a different animal and is very different than most buffeting issues. Many 15 and 16 owners had them bought back by GM due to making people sick. I feel that 17+ models seem to be a lot better when referring to the "known" issues with this platform.

Buffeting is definitely different in these but like it’s been said, not everyone feels / hears it. If you like the current body style, there’s nothing else REALLY wrong with it, so go ahead and pick one up. If you want to wait another 9-10 months for the most current technology, then wait. Or wait til 2020 comes out, decide you don’t like it and buy a discounted 2019

For start this it is right off the bat question and 2019 model is a winner. Unless your rich or gonna lease go with 2020 model. Why cause 2019 model are all with all the bugs taken out from the bad models 2015 . The 2020 new stlye new bugs have no clue how it would turn out . Always wait 2 years after first model to buy, why cause you got no clue how that new model is and mostly are thrown out In the public first year as test vechile to get out all the bugs.

and it's anybody's guess what the 2020 will be like till some people get there hands on them, I know I read that for the first time Cadillac engineers are making all the decisions on the escalades so it will be interesting to see what they do with it..

Tough tough choice.
I would personally wait for the redesign and get the 2020. Second option would be to wait for the 20s to come out and get a left over 19 or 18 at a big discount.

I also wouldnt pay attention to the first year of production comments. Bought a brand new 07 redesigned Tahoe and it gave me 0 issues for nearly 10 years before finally trading it in.
