Hi all,
Very frustrated right now. I have made 2 payments on my truck, and it has 5500 miles on it (I drive a lot, plus moved cross country). Around the time of the first oil change, I began to hear this creaking like an old mattress or old box spring over speed bumps and low speed driving.
The noise sort of intensified to any time the body moves, I hear a creak coming from the rear. I hear it even more when using the brakes at low speed, and the body starts to roll, it is modulated by the brake pedal; the harder I hit the brake, the more the body moves, the more I hear it.
When I had the oil changed, the service advisor and tech agreed that they heard the noise, but couldn't diagnose it. I brought the car back about 2 weeks later because it was really beginning to annoy me. They had my truck all day, the service advisor again admits that they can hear the noise, and worked on it "for 5 hours" but couldn't figure out what the problem was. Their solution was essentially "live with it" until they can diagnose it.
Now, this is not an acceptable answer. It's brand new and is way too expensive for me to "live with it". I've left VM for the service manager, but haven't heard back.
I was so frustrated when I got home from the dealer that I hosed whatever I could see down with silicone spray, but of course that didn't help. What should I do here? I read another post about parking brake cables. Is there any obvious fix I could do myself?
