Thought I would share. It makes quite a few sounds after you shut it off.

Alot of our trucks at work, the DEF tanks makes a lot of noise after shut down like clicking and pump cycling. Wonders if yours will do it.

That's a good question. I will have to check that out.

This is one good reason to put battery maintenance on your radar. Electrical demands are high on these newer vehicles and Newer AGM batteries can drop well before their time, unpredictably. Wife's car had to have a new AGM in 15 months due to bad cells and poor load capacity...

That "thing" moving that he is pointing to is the waste gate actuator. Looks to be a mechanical actuator instead of the typical vacuum. More positive control of the waste gate or boost.

Most of the newer diesels, including GM, use variable-geometry turbochargers that are directly controlled by the PCM. I’d guess it runs through a full range of motion on the actuator to ensure no carbon is building up to restrict operation. Some designs of exhaust brakes are known to coke up from disuse and then they’re stuck when needed.

DEF systems will purge the injector at shutdown to prevent fluid from freezing or drying out and crystalizing in the injection line / injector.
