2021 Yukon XL At4 Dead before leaving Dealer Lot

My 2021 Yukon Xl / AT4 recently arrived at our local dealer. After paperwork and introduction with sales I prepared to leave the lot with the vehicle. This is my first Yukon. Completely out of nowhere the truck wouldn't start. It would crank but sounded like no gas was going to the engine. I mean I literally hadn't left the lot. The dealer had 5 techs on it quickly. I left the lot in my rented vehicle (previous car totaled) rather than wait for them to figure it out. They followed up to say it was a bad ECM and offered to order it and put me in a loaner. That is the extent of what they have offered. I was pretty chill about everything but obviously very disappointed.

Any advice out there?
What would be a realistic response from the dealer?
If this were you would you go through with the purchase? I think I have already bought the vehicle but have not taken possession. Given the current state of the car market I am not in a strong position.

Any realistic advise appreciated.

Hopefully that’s the only issue with it. My ‘21 Tahoe was built in March and I got it in April and haven’t had any issues with it except the center console rattles a little when I put my arm on it. Otherwise I love the vehicle…although I still can’t believe that happened to you on a new vehicle that you just signed the paperwork for. Maybe see if they can get GM to make it right by throwing in a gift card, credit for accessories, or something to make up for the embarrassment of having a brand new vehicle die like that.

One of my friends had a tail light get broken accidentally by their Ford dealer and bad to wait 3 weeks for a replacement to arrive. Ford sent him a $250 gift card for the inconvenience factor. I’d say on a new vehicle like that they should make up for that embarrassment somehow. Just my take on it.

I've had my Yukon Denali for 1 year now. Currently at the dealer for a similar problem. Went to drive it on Sunday, it was totally dead. I jumped it, drove around for a bit, then let it sit. A few hours later, totally dead again. Brought it to the dealer, they said ecm, but also that my rear blower motor wouldn't shut off no matter what. They are getting the new part overnighted to be fixed tomorrow. This is the 5th time its been at the dealer now. 2x for the third row headrests not staying up (saw that is now a recall). Once for the second row seat driver side rattling loudly. Then, when it had only 100 miles, a safety restraint system issue that had something to do with wiring under the seats (also recalled). I love the way this vehicle looks and drives, but over the 52 weeks I've had it, its been in the dealer shop for about 3 or 4 weeks total.

@Isbell400 and @frankdp23, welcome to the forum and it sucks that you are having problems with these brand new rigs. "Got my new Yukon and have plans but now they are put on hold because of this crap". The ECM problems may be related to the shortage of chips world wide but still, that price tag should guarantee you that it leaves the lot.

Get used to it. Ours would not start at 616 miles. We now have fuel pump and fule control module #3 on order. GMs vendors are total crap and the overall quality on these rigs are hit or miss. As soon as the 2023 Toyota Sequoias come out I am done with GM for some time until they get their poop together quality wise.

Quality problems are one thing GM's refusal to be contrite with utter refusal to improve is another. Worked for GM it is their MO and their corporate legacy.
