I haven't seen anything around the internets that would indicate that this is a recurring issue on any of the engines and drivetrain configurations and combinations. I know it's no consolation but it might be a statistical outlier. What's the dealer and GM doing about it?
Well your not looking then. There are hundreds of threads and posts since 2021 on the 5.3 and 6.2 gas motor having defective lifters which can lead to bent pushrods, and wiped out cams. The entire top of the motor has to come off just to do lifters and pushrods. If the cam is wiped the front has to come off. Its a huge job. And a huge problem. There are TSB's out from GM and it appears to be just a matter of time because it it a bad design, but mainly a defective part that causes a BIG job. Its a real shame, because its such a great truck in so many other ways, but at this price point, this issue should not be in your head when going on a family road trip!!

If I start getting those symptoms while the vehicle is under a factory warranty, you can bet that I'm going to be going wide open throttle so that entire engine turns into kibbles and bits. I'll take a warranty replacement engine.

Its not a bad design. It's a supplier issue. The pushrod v8s are incredibly simple. To take the heads off is extremely easy. This is not a over head cam engine. The hardest part about the job is getting the exhaust manifold bolts loose.

And you are right there is a tsb with years and date ranges because it's a supplier issue.

All cars have issues. This statistically isn't that big of a deal. You don't understand how many hundreds of thousands of these engines there are and the failure rate is ridiculously small.

Still it sucks for it to happen. But that's what warranty is for.
