2022 Tahoe Infosystem

Last summer (2021) I placed phone order, picked up the vehicle in the fall. This is not my first tahoe/yukon, my last 4 vehicles have been in the Tahoe family. So you would think I'm a Tahoe fanatic, only partially so. I'll tell you the info system really sucks. A few times it has, just as it has today, disconnected from my phone. The mapping is the worst I've ever had! The screen is really crap! The mapping on my 2008 Yukon was so much friggin better! When I heard it came with a large10.2' screen I was elated, but in reality the maps are only 8" on the diagonal. Compared to the screen in our Lexus RX the screen is complete CRAP! GMC should be ashamed to offer such poor quality! I now have 6000 miles and seriously thinking of trading for a different manufacture SUV.

Ours comes disconnected from the phone quite a bit after you shut off the car and run into a store then come back out. Then you have to close the app you're using and shut of the infortainment then restart the app and close/open it a couple times before it reconnects. Sometimes it won't reconnect no matter what. It's weird. But 90% of the time it works just fine and music takes off all on it's own once you start the car again. No rhyme or reason.

My phone has 100% been disconnected from apple carplay and I can't get it to link back up. I've tried a bunch of times and just given up at this point. My wifes phone works just fine though. I just stream music through bluetooth and don't really care about using carplay. Only realy difference is carplay shows you a picture when the music is playing and bluetooth just displays info about the song

You would trade away your Tahoe because of the infotainment system? I have a '21 Yukon and would agree that the system could have been better, it has a larger screen but with small icons. I mainly use it for the satelite radio and to make adjustments to the settings.

Have to agree the system in the '22 is not fully baked. We have a couple of '19 GM products -- those infotainment systems work quickly and smoothly. The Android system in the '22 is noticeably laggy and still has plenty of unresolved bugs.

Not sure I'd trade out over it though. I guess if this quirky market is still allowing for a depreciation-free quick bail-out then why not?

I actually haven't had too many issues with the infotainment. I have noticed it can be buggy when switching bluetooth connections. That has happened a few times. And when you first connect, after about 30 seconds, the audio cuts out for about half a second. Someone I know has a 21 Z71, I have a 2022, and he asked me if I noticed it and confirmed it was happening in mine too.

I'm waiting for the day someone figures out how to root the headunit with the android OS. I think it'll open up the possibilities with it tremendously. Would certainly make things easier using wireless CarPlay and my Nexar dashcam--the wifi disabling for carplay messes with it.
