I like your approach, but expect to keep the truck. Just keep track of all your contact with the dealer; especially the service reports. Even if you get it back before 15-30 days; those days still count if you have to take the truck back for more service (within 1 year in my state). Again, expect to keep your truck and enjoy it. I've had a lemon and still bought another. GM settled with a cash amount for me to keep the first.

Regarding the washer fluid pump; I think this may be related to the recent OTA update. I was one of the first new Yukon owners in my area and on this forum (for 2021 model). I never saw anyone mention such an issue, until just recently. My washer fluid began to work intermittently right after that update (within the same week). Maybe its just a coincidence; the pump is likely made in China...

Also, use this time to negotiate a better warranty. These trucks are nice and do a lot of things right. That's why I got another. Just try to get an extended warranty to help with any future gremlins....

I like your approach as well. It makes no difference to anyone if you contact the Dealer or not and I do not see that as confrontational, just the opposite. They are the ones doing the work on your vehicle and getting paid for doing so. They should be keeping in touch with you and keeping you informed every step of the way. I had to Lemon an early build 2015 Tahoe in Florida. GM paid me full MSRP plus tax and the GM accessories that I had added. A small deduction for mileage. Good luck and hope everything works out.

I like the humor in your story, nice touch!

If you're not sure about keeping the vehicle, then the lemon laws may work in your favor. It's hard to judge from afar, so I am going off what was stated and I feel that I would be as let down as you. 8k miles on a 70k truck that left you as the cue ball in the middle of a crazy FL intersection would completely grind all the teeth off my gears....

I'm so glad I don't have the desire to run out and buy something new based on all the issues that seem to pop up with this new generation and COVID timeline BS.
Just wondering, if vehicles built during the critical 'chip' shortage, then having starts and stops with chip installations so factory can ship to dealers to sell, has any room for consideration in this issue?

Hello, first time poster, long time Tahoe owner. This particular vehicle will be our family's 4th such vehicle in the past 15 or so years. Big fans.

This morning on the way to work, my 2022 Tahoe with a little under 8k miles (5.3 L V8), died at a stop light and never came on again. When I pressed the ignition button, the car sounded like it was turning over fine, but the engine did not ignite. That sound will live with me forever! It would keep instructing me to "press start button" and then the dreaded "conditions not correct for shift" message. After pondering what life might be like in the middle of a busy South Florida street blocking morning traffic for the foreseeable future, I spent several other futile attempts to start the car, resulting in a lovely text message from MyChevrolet that I should "Service My transmission". Well, at least that part worked! I also was able to get the car itself to tell me that the transmission, along with the ESC, the brakes, and just about every other system was in failure. Good Stuff! For anyone who is curious, first oil change was done at 5k miles at the dealership so no concerns there. And also never a single advanced sign of the car being in anything other than terrific shape. Well, until this morning :)

So after being towed to the local dealership (2 hrs for the tow OUCH!), and asking point blank whether anyone in the Service department had ever seen or experienced anything like that, I saw the longest group of blank stares I have ever seen in my life. You would have thought I asked everyone who they voted for. And mind you this is all covered by warranty. So, its not like they are staring down a guy who needs to buy a new transmission!

Well, the other strange thing about this situation is that the INTERNET has not provided with me with a SINGLE other story like this one. And having driven the same vehicle for close to two decades, I am feeling absolutely emotionally crushed at even the THOUGHT that my new Tahoe could even have the possible tinge of anything other than pure American craftsmanship and beauty.

So, any chance anyone here has had a similar experience? Second thing, would anyone think twice about driving that car again after it gets fixed? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration, much appreciated.
Speaking of Florida Rush Hour traffic, the same thing happened to us when it went into Limp Home Mode in the middle of rush hour traffic in SW FL about a month ago. Whoever engineered that at GM should be taken out back, have the crap beat out of him, shot by a firing squad, then hung.

I've been wrestling with the fix since then, and I've learned it has happened to a lot of people. I have a thread about it going.

Your not alone on issues with this truck! I’m just leaving the dealership now for probably the third or fourth time with a loaner vehicle with my 2022 Tahoe being serviced again. But the service personnel told me today that they had another 2022 in the back that the owners engine locked up while she was driving the vehicle, she is equally concerned with what is going on with chevy. ..my newest problem is the collision alert system is not working at all. I purchased my Tahoe, January 2022 with only 2 miles on it and it has been serviced so many times I can’t even keep up. It’s been so many computer module issues, check engine light and system failures they had to replace the OnStar module, my whole dashboard went black they had to replace that there’s so many things I can’t even name and this is my third TAHOE and will be my last. I’m going to educate myself and switch to a different vehicle. After this I can no longer take the inconveniences… I’ve been dealing with GM’s case workers, which is basically like talking to the wall I called corporate to complain about their product, and they assign a case worker who does absolutely nothing to help soften the blow. They only gave me extra warranty in case the issues they addressed messed up again they are simply not making the tahoes like they use too

Why not just sell it? If you don't like it sell it or trade it in. Simple.

All vehicles have issues. Most on this forum are attributed to incompetent service departments.

Good luck.

Sadly, due to new (Jan 2021) EPA rules, modern car engines are not designed for long life or durability. They are designed for maximum miles per gallon, and to limp across the warranty period. My new Tahoe gets about 1 mile per gallon better than my old 2016 Toyota Sequoia. But my new Tahoe will certainly not get the 300K miles of driving I could reliably expect from Toyota engines.

This won't make you feel better and I hope they can resolve it quicker than mine. I previously posted about this in another thread and haven't bothered to update it. My 2021 Tahoe 30K miles has been at the dealership since the week before Thanksgiving. At least mine started and I wasn't stranded but in my driveway. Mine would start but not shift. I have it towed. They have changed out a laundry list of almost everything that is considered the brains of the vehicle. 1st it was the Shifter module, then they can't get it started. Then they find a puddle of water under passenger floor board and claim it's from a faulty windshield instal (I did have windshield changed). BS on the windshield thing which voids my warranty. Then they change out the Power Diverter, they tell me its flooded and ask if I've been in flood water etc. Um, no I haven't and if I did wouldn't the whole truck be flooded? I also requested a video water test to prove their faulty windshield theory. Then car wouldn't start to be able to move car outside to do a pressure water test. Then they change out ECM and some wires. Also, a few months ago I did have something done with the fuel pump module or wire or something. I'm probably leaving out some other module that was changed out as well. Finally last week they get it started and say its running fine but now waiting on some carpet to deliver. Meanwhile, I do have a lemon Law attorney involved. I probably waited too long. I also waited till 30 days out of service before I made a customer service ticket to GM. Louisiana Lemon Laws states that 1. car has to be worked on 4x's and not fixed to be considered a lemon or 2. has to be out of service for like 40-45 days, I can't remember exactly which one. Also, GM declined my trade assist or buy back claim or whatever you want to call it because they were able to get car started. BS on that because I don't want this truck back! I filed suit probably 3 weeks ago and waiting for GM to be served before I can move forward to see what my options are. Lawyer says it's a process and can take maybe 30 days before they get served, then GM has to hire a local attorney to start negotiating. I've been renting and paying a car note at the same time. It's been a crappy experience thus far. Hopefully since your car is newer maybe it get resolved quicker than mine. I wish I'd have filed suit sooner rather than wait 40 something days because they would've been served by now. I didn't think I had a case until I reached the any of the Lemon Law requirements. I should've done it at 30 days. Anyway, I don't think this helps you but I'd start keeping a record of everything that they say. I've even resorted to recording phone calls as I'm not the best record keeper. But I did get them to verbally agree it that they ruled out a faulty windshield instal.

Had a similar experience with my 21
Yukon at about 16,000 miles. Died in the parking lot a couple times. As in completely dead. Had to be flatbed towed to dealership. All the warnings came on prior to completing losing power. Abs system service, power steering alert, transmission failure alert.

Dealership ended up replacing a part in the battery which was losing connection. They arrived me it was safe to take on a trip to the east coast. Well needless to say…they were wrong. It lost power on the freeway and we were stuck at a rest stop for 2 hours before we finally got it back up and running. Took it to a dealership in Connecticut where they charged battery and told me to drive straight home to Michigan and don’t shut the vehicle off if I can help it. Told
Me to leave it running when I even got fuel. We made it home and back to the local dealership where they couldn’t find any thing wrong with it??? Now I’m at 40k miles and haven’t had any more engine issues but I somehow lost all the retainers for the heat shield underneath the vehicle that had to be replaced. My Yukon has been a nightmare.
