Care to share what oil weight, and oil change interval, you had been using?

Some anecdotal evidence suggests that perhaps the factory recommend 0W20 oil and relatively long oil change interval called for by the dash's oil life indicator might be a contributing factor to these early engine failures.

Curious to know what oil weight/ oil change interval you had been using.

Yup. Seems super sus. Hopefully OP comes back and posts more details other than my engine went kaboom.
Right? And down to the same "catastrophic engine failure" language...

We'll see if they return to post more info.

Feels like the FAQ ought to have some sort of template for reporting an engine failure:
Which Engine:
What Oil are you using:
What Fuel are you using:
Oil Change Interval:
Driving Conditions:
etc...

(Can't actually believe I am typing this up...)

Should we start a "Failed Engine Forum?"

I used recommended oil weight and interval. GM already checked as they were hoping i had ruined the engine. The 6.2L are probably going to be recalled by NHTSB because of safety issue.

Doubt there will be a "Recall" for wholesale engine replacements. GM will show the problem is fairly small, will skirt any sort of engine replacement program. They MAY send out updated that requires running Premium fuel, may update the OLM algorithm, may reprogram the 2 stage oil pump. Then they will extended the warranty on the engines probably to 7 years, 100,000k miles or something in this area.

Likely there will be a software solution for all the hardware problems. Print paper, maybe flash a few updates, nothing more.

But please provide some details.

What year is your vehicle?
What is the build Month of the vehicle, located on door jam sticker.
Where are you located?
How many miles were on the vehicle? I see you stated 28,000 in another post
How fast were you driving when the failure occurred? 70 MPH as stated in another post
How many oil changes were performed?
Do you tend to warm up the vehicle with the remote start before you drive on a regular basis when it is cold out?
Is the vehicle often used for shorter trips less than 20 minutes?
