It seems to change based on your driving. I do mostly in town short trips, and it will tell me 350 range on a full tank. After a weekend of heavy freeway driving, it’ll say over 400 after a fill up.

I don't think many of them are that accurate on the estimate till you begin to get near 1/4 tank and then the accuracy goes up. Just about every time I full up the 2018 Denali 6.2 liter, the estimated range is around 555-565. By the time it nears 1/4 tank, about 6.5 gallons, it begins to be relatively accurate. EPA estimates are 14/22/17 mpg but our combined mpg is 19.12. When the low fuel light finally lights up, I can put 23 gallons in it, about 60 miles worth of fuel, which is very close. That's about all the accuracy I expect from those systems that are built into the electronics of the vehicle. 522 miles is our top distance per tank since we have had the vehicle and that was about 90% highway cruising at 70-75 mph. I might add that my wife has put probably 90% of the mileage on the truck and she is a gentle driver.

An example of too much "science" applied to an unpredictable process. Your mileage may vary means just that. Every Driver and each drive is a different event. You can apply math to history and predict down to the .0001, and some people like that. It's just a number. Drive your car and enjoy it. It sure beats walking.

I’m not sure that I trust the distance to empty in mine. I had just under 100 miles left - low 90s I think it was showing. I was averaging ~33mpg on my trip. I didn’t want to push it much further so I stopped and filled up. I got 26.1 gal in my 28 gal tank. Just under 2 gallons left and even at 33mpg that’s ~60 miles - ~30 miles short of the DTE gauge… I won’t push it below 100 next time, that’s for sure.
