We are going to buy a new Tahoe. Coming from a loaded 2017 premier. This time we are going with a Z71. I have a few questions.

1. Cypress grey. All the dealers around me are getting this color in the builds we like. What do you all think of it. I'm used to silver and pearls. They show no swirls and spiderwebbing. What do you guys think about how this color will look with proper wash and care. It will get ceramic coated at my buddy's shop.

2. So if we don't go cypress that puts us in the new silver or pearl but we are pretty much having to take the truck loaded full tilt. What do you all think about the magnetic ride with air ride. With our 2017 it had those ride bags in the rear and they told me at the dealer when that system goes you better dump it right before cause of repair so I'm a little gun shy about the uncharged suspension. My dad's buddy said keep it simple and go with the base Z71 suspension and call it a day.

3. I'm going to get the extended warranty cause of the electronics and all the other tech. I never bought them but since I bought my wrangler I have kinda accepted that they are needed anymore due to costs. For my wrangler I got my max care for cost through an internet dealer. I'm going to do the same for the chevy. It's the GM premier one. The one dealer I'm thinking of buying from deals with the Zurich one (spelling is off prob). HE said everything is covered minus wear and tear, but I think I would be more comfortable with the GM branded one. Opinions.

Thanks so much everyone. I didn't like the new interior before this one, but this update I like. I feel the interior is finally where it should be. But man these trucks are stupid expensive.

SO pretty much 2 choices:

cypress grey with comfort package, cast chairs second row, all weather package. 74 grand sticker. no fat on the truck.

IF we want the color we really want meaning sterling grey or pearl like out past 3 we are all in for comfort, tech, off road, all the trailer stuff. 80200 sticker.

You keep your trucks a really long time, buy what you want, not what they have. I suggest not to buy the warranty now (unless you need to finance it), buy the warranty at 11900 miles before the 36 runs out.

Two reasons, 1) you pick up 11900 miles of coverage and 2) buy it from Sutherland (much cheaper) .

Personally I’d only buy the manufacturer extended service plan, that way your sure they will pay and don’t go BK with your money.

Yes we keep em till they are pretty much worth not too much or something big goes wrong. We just feel it's time. So I buy the warranty later cause it stats the day I buy right? So say I buy the GM one (from who????) if I buy it later will it cost more? Also so if it is a 5 yr 50k mile one for example I get 5 years or till I hit 50k on the truck from day I buy it . . . so 5 years and 38 k miles pretty much since. I would have almost 12k on already. . . right?

I think we should just go full tilt and get the white or silver but I also kinda worry about the air ride and magnetic ride cause if we have issues, but again we are covered. . .

Color is subjective to taste. I personally don’t care for the cypress grey. Reminds me of battle ship grey. I really like the sterling gray(silver). If you are buying the warranty I’d get the options you like but things like the air ride is an expensive fix outside of the warranty. Ask your dealer how much it costs to replace the air shock. I like the magnetic shocks. I had a 2017 suburban that one of the rear air bladder shocks went bad. 1000 bucks for the shock plus labor. Thank you warranty.
Get the gm warranty. It’s good at any gm dealer. So if you’re on a trip, you’re covered. When? Try asking your dealer about different mileage/years cost. If you get 5 yrs 50 k. You bought two addl years and 24k addl miles. Try asking for 7 years 100k and consider the 100$ deductible. Maybe it’s more reasonable. The first 3 years is still the full factory warranty.

You lost me on the warranty. If I buy it at 12000k and it’s 5 year 50k doesn’t that mean I get 5 years from day of warranty purchase or once I hit 50k?

Actually, if you buy it at 12,000k miles, that is 12,000,000 miles, and you probably cannot afford to buy it, nor would you probably need it... :)

In all seriousness, read the terms, but most of the service contracts (they are not warranties), have words that say you are buying the additional time and additional miles from the date of purchase of the service contract.

Ex:
If you had a vehicle with 12,000 miles on it, and was 18 months old, and you bought a 60 months, 60k mile service contact, it would run until the vehicle was 78 months old or had 72,000 miles on it.

That said, each service contract is written differently...but generally these are the terms I have seen when reviewing them. The GMEPP is written this way.

Whatever you are considering buying, never take the word of the salesman selling it, ask for a copy of the agreement you are buying, and read it, you will learn some things. Ex: The one they tried to sell me as "exclusionary coverage," which is touted as the best coverage you can get in an VSC excluded "LCD screens." Facts, no lie...and guess what the key thing the finance guy (salesman) was saying regarding why it was so important to have a VSC? "You have all those screens and computers in there. Even the instrument cluster is a screen." I showed the exclusion to him and asked if he knew for certain that they would be covered if there was an issue....you know what a hot summer night in the midwest sounds like...yup..crickets...I didn't buy the "warranty' (VSC).

Not trying to discourage anyone from buying one...but consider all the terms before you assume what is covered, what isn't, and for how long. Then spend some time on You Tube reviewing some independent shop's opinions of how it goes with repairing a vehicle under a VSC. Education is key. VSC is insurance, you may find it to be worthwhile to you, or you may find out that putting that $4000, $3000, or $2500 in a high yield savings account and using it for any repairs in the future (not maintenance), you may come out ahead financially. It must be this way on the whole, or the business model of the folks selling VSC's doesn't work and they would be out of business.

In my example. You are buying the warranty from the start. 0 miles.
If you bought a 5 yr 50kmile warranty at 12,000 miles. You’d have 60 months from the day you purchase the warranty and the warranty would go to 62,000 miles. It’s from the day you buy it. Not on top of the manufactures’. 3 years 36k.

It runs concurrently.
I’d look to buy close to the end of the manufacturer’s B2B warranty.
I think the total mileage is going to be the cost factor.

ok guys thanks. I'm deff buying a extended service plan cause for my wrangler it is paying off with little things. my button to unlock the truck wore out. that was 900. cost me nothing. then the inside one broke. that was like 350. cost me nothing. i have 80k on it now and still on original brakes and getting my 3rd set of tires next week so i am overly happy with it. i havne't had a wrangler since 2000 so I love having it again for towing the boat and running the river to fish when it's low.

so we are deff going with a more loaded up Z71. Found her color for her in pearl. It has the comfort package, and off road package so that gets her the 2nd row buckets we need for when bringing poles to the beach and it gets her magnetic ride with air she wants. just don't have the tech package and she hates HUD anyway. I wish I could get the video rear view mirror on it's own but for the extra like 3 grand it isn't that important.

it's in transit with a mid march landing date but as long as we have it by may I'm happy. I'm excited to get back into a new tahoe. I really like the slightly changed front end. I'm digging the dual exhaust standard now. And like I said before the inside is really nice. Hopefully it is a stress free 7 years plus. lol
