26" Wheels

How do 26's ride? I have a set of 24's now but kinda of thinking about going with a white Tahoe now and putting a set of 26" U2-55 wheels on it. Any vibrations? If I go with 26's will the stock brakes hold up? How much would the cheapest big brake kit run?

I have heard that there isnt much difference between 24s and 26s, and the new hoes ride really good anyway.

wouldnt 26's put a strain on the drivetrain. also a big brake kit would cost anywhere from 2k on up but after market rotors and better performing pads should help but better performing means more brake dust and more cleaning but for the look (DEFINITLY)!!!!!!

Yeah you can get a Baer Perf. Barke kit for $1200 (front and back) over at www.autoanything.com.
26's are cool and all but the tires are costly, that is unless you get some knock off Sunny or Triangle tire lol.
I'm doing 24s, 26s will make you lose too much gas mileage, but it won't effect your drivetrain though, may want bigger gears though (4.10)

I've never felt the ride of 26's besides mine and they ride fine... no vibrations, just took a little getting used to the SLIGHT increase in road noise and SLIGHT decrease in ride comfort. My stock brakes are doing well.

My gas mileage has not decreased much, worse case 1 or 2 MPG is all. 4.10's would drastically increase acceleration, but would also severely reduce gas mileage. I think a higher stall converter would be the best of both worlds.

Thanks! And I can't really say which is better... It's about your personal preference and goals... after all you are the one paying for the vehicle and its mods.

Personally, I wanted the "largest wheel/and decent sidewall tire" setup that would fill the wheelwell but still accomodate a lowered suspension. I've bent cast aluminum wheels in the past, and paying to fix them was not fun so this time I chose a forged wheel for the added strength and lighter weight since the wheel is so large. The 305/30/26's are only 1.75 inches taller than my stock tire/wheel setup. They rub a little but I knew this would be a minor issue and didn't mind the hassle.

If you go to http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp you can compare tire sizes. If you compare stock tires to 26" wheels, you'll get a warning message saying that they recommend staying within 3% of the diameter of the original tire or you could face the risk of brake failure.
