At one of the tire/rim places I went to, they were saying anyting from 4.5 - 5.25 would cause the rubber to rub the lip of the fender...but I haven't been able to confirm/deny that comment.
I've got 285/70-17 mounted on 17x9 wheels and they fit great. Mine is a 99 Z71 and I'm not sure what the back spacing is. I could find out if you want to know.
The wheels are black rhino sidewinders i think. No suspension mods at all. I got the wheels from discount tire if that helps you look them up. Let me know if you don't find the back spacing.
This is the closest I have to a front on shot. They don't stick out too far in my opinion. I had 285/75-16 on stock wheels and they would rub when I was turning into a parking spot or in a parking lot. These do not do that. The older guy on my truck is my dad (only shot I had).
