285/70 or 315/70 17’s??

whats up everyone. I lifted my Tahoe about a month ago about 2.5-3” with eBay keys and z71 springs. And now I’m ready to put the new rims and tires on. I have a set of oem chevy 17’s I’m gonna swap out the rims on the Tahoe now cause I hate the hurricane style rims. I hear mixed reviews on 315’s on 7.5” rims. Once I get the tires and new rims on I will eventually do amazon lift spindles and 2 or 2.5” lift spacers for the rear. So I’m wondering if the 285’s will look to small. What do y’all think? And I’m still curious if I can fit the 17’s with the lift spindles.

I think a 315 is a bit too big for your application, but the 285s should fit, you may need to trim a bit to make sure you don't rub

Uh... 315s on 6" lift and 1.5" wheel spacers required some pretty heavy trimming on a Z71.... And it still rubbed on full turns. It took 7.5" total lift to stop.

Running a 4 inch lift with 35"s only time it rubs is when I bottom suspension in a tight turn.

Varies some truck by truck, especially depending on your wheels. I'm on 3" with 315s on stock wheels. With minor clearancing I only rub a bit on one side.

That said, 285s are a really good size and they're the size I would recommend most people. I run 33s on almost everything. Fit and look really nice on low lift applications. I only went to 35s in preparation for a full blown SAS off road oriented build on my '**.
