@Charr Berteaux IV,

If nothing else, try a little light lubricant on the hinges and pivot points. Exercise the lever(s) while you are doing that.

My 3rd row seats were tough to release/remove until I did that with mine.

You have the 2nd row bench seat. In order to access the 3rd row seats does the 2nd row seat have to be folded down flat?

EDIT: Can you pull the lever all the way (like you're trying to fold DOWN the seatback) and hold it, and push the seatback to the desired position?

Yes, I have to fold down seat 40 of he split to allow people in the 3rd row. My Tahoe has no levers. I just pull a tab is the seat, to pull the bottom up, then the back rest, just folds down, head rests fold back.

replacing that broken cable might be a real ***** as in taking the entire seat apart and the cable system, if you can get it back on there with that remaining piece you may be able to drill a couple places around it and put some type of metal "U" shape clamp on it to keep it on, a couple zip ties might work but could easily break again depending on how much force it uses when engaging, you will have to look at it and see if anything else would get blocked by putting a clamp on it i.e. "check clearance area" maybe the clamp could be facing under the seat rather than out I don't know it's just an idea that would be a permanent fix other than taking the whole thing apart. I have fixed some stuff before like this and it usually works out one way or another.

Either one of those fixes -- even if only temporary -- would tell you if that's the whole issue. I can see that the mechanism for my buckets is totally different.

Wouldn't hurt to lube up the hinge and latching mechanisms, they look kind of rusty and may be binding a little.

Your U-Pull places are open today? Ours aren't.

So, I replaced cable, greased and oiled up hinges, and still no go :( also no replacement part at the pick a part - kind of a joke actually. They told me I would have to go to another one a few suburbs over to find anything. When it stops raining here in Portland, I’ll try removing that seat all together to have a better look at that one inside hinge. I can feel that is where it stops at.
