I installed two 3.5 inspeakers in those pillars for the third row people. PLus I had the speakers laying around. I think it looks good and most people think it stock. I did end up cutting into the pillars as one of the previous poster mentioned. When I get a chance Ill take photos of the install so you can get an idea of how they look

Oh yes please do, that's what I want to see, and if you can give me the idea of how you mounted our connected them to the pillar after taking out the stock speaker and bracket
I also just want to clarify that the speaker sits ontop of the plastic pillar not behind it. There is not enough room behing the plastuc trim to mount a seaker of that size.

Oh ok, so mounting would be easy. Do you know of any 3.5 speakers with a grill? Which speakers you used?
I used some mephis audio speakers laying around and pretty much all speakers comes with the grill. Here is the process i did to get it to work. I just basically measured the diamater of the speaker mounting diamater of the 3.5 speaker and then made a template and placed it over the orginal tweeter location of the plastic pillar and drew a circle. when you buy a new speaker alot of them come with a mounting tmeplate. I then cut the circles with a dremel tool and placed the speaker in the plastic pillar and screwed the speakers into the plastic pillar bezel. The plastic pillar is thick enough to hold the speakers firmly. Just keep in mind that there is not much depth in the pillars so you do not want to pick a speaker with a big magnet. I wont be able to take picks till tom but I will try to get them to you sooner then later. I also found a link where someone found shallow enough speakers to not have to cut the pillar my only concern with that is the oem tweeter grill is small and by mounting a bigger speaker behind it will just muffle the sound and even cause rattleing from the vibration from the speaker.

3.5s will fit if you cut the metal behind it. my friend installed jlaudio tr350s in his wifes 06 Yukon. next time he drives it to work ill snap some pics of the install.

Nope did not have to cut any metal pillars. There is a pretty decent size whole behind the plastic pillar that was big enough alomst fit the hole speaker i could of probably cut the metal and enlarged the diameter of the hole by an inch and get the speaker completly in but i was not to keen on doing that. Since the tweeter grill is so small that i felt it would muffle the sound and cause panel rattle. So i just used a dremel tool to cut the plastic and made sure that the cut was in the area of where that hole in the metal pillar is so the magnet part of the speaker would fit in there. Then I just mounted the speakers and screwed them directly into the plastic and put a retaining clasp behind it to work as a washer/bolt (picture below)
