Hey everyone,

just trying to get some of your knowledge and wisdom on this topic. So I have a radio that has 2 outputs one front and one rear that is switchable to sub (allowing me to have sub control). My question is can I use the rear rca as a sub out and then get a line converter something like the link below in order to achieve 3 amp output. Will the quality from the converter sound like crap never used one before or is this just a waiste of time.

Current set up Below (fyi its all older gear but still sounds great). Also if the line converter sounds like crap. The other option was to just run a rca from the new radio rca out to the alpines rca in and call it a day. The current alpine is located in the cd try in a 2001 tahoe and the new radio would go where the original radio went

Current radio
Alpine cda 7875

So why do you need 3 outs? Rear/sub output to subs and front output to the 4 channel....done

Cause i tend to be overkill on things if i split the front to front and rear on amp i know i wont have fade controls but is there a considerable loss in audio quality

You won't have fade controls anyways with one out running the sub. There's a million ways to split an rca but if you want full control via the head unit and not just tuning your amps....get a new HU with 3 outputs. Pretty cheap these days.

Yea i went with this unit cause of the andriod features and a unit with three amps out is like 200 more. I figured ill just split the rcas and if i notice a downgrade quality i can keep the alpine in and use it as a processor

You can just use a Y splitter for the front RCA's.

Does your sub amp have a port for a sub control? If it does, just use the rear as rear, split it and add the little level control knob for sub

His rear can be switched for sub out, which is just low frequencies. He could do it that way but then he won't have sub control from the head unit.
