Just a final recap. When I pressed the sales guys for documentation about the difference (as they verbally explained) of the first 12 months relative to the balance of the 24 months, he could produce nothing. We asked for a refund and hope to have that processed soon. Thanks for all the help.

hmmm you'd think when purchasing a vehicle worth upwards of 60g it would be made to last and you shouldn't need the warranty... crazy how these people don't seem to believe in the product they are selling you.

The reason for the third party warranty instead of the GM warranty is that the salesman gets a bigger commission for the sale that way than from the GM warranty. The sale is the main thing so that when people add it in to the payments the finance people make more $. The 3 year 36k warranty bumper to bumper warranty is just that. Doesn't cover maintenance like LOF and such. Buying an extended warranty anytime is a large waste of money in my opinion. Especially during the first 3 year 36k. If you buy it before the 3 year 36k then you bought an "instead of" warranty and not an "extended warranty." For what you pay for that warranty you should be saving back as part of a pool for maintenance and repairs down the road because if you drive it you will need it and you don't pay interest on that money. Have never bought an extended warranty and never will. Has never came back to bite me in the ass at any time.
