305/40/22 with 2/4 drop

I'm ordering new tires soon for my CK916s. Looking at getting 305/40s for them instead of 285/45 for the extra width in hopes that it might protect the rim lip a little better from potential curbing.

Are 305s okay on the 9" wide wheels, and will I have rubbing issues with a 2/4 drop?
