I currently own a 96 hoe. I want to build the engine myself so I am buying the parts little by little. I want the block already made and summit offers it but only in 4 bolt... It should fit right??? any guidance in this matter wil be greatly appreciated..\

4 bolt is the number of bolts used to hold the main caps into the block, 4 bolts is good, 2 bolts is common in half ton trucks. For what you are doing a 2 bolt is OK, 2 bolt that is "studded" would be fine, 4 bolt is better, 4 bolt studs is even better, you won't get much better then a studded 4 bolt old school ... well MAYBE a 4 bolt splayed cap but the amt of money that costs is beyond what you would put in a 96 Tahoe.

it looks like I cannot go wrong by getting this and start building, it should be my 2013 project. now all I have to do is start thinking what cam to get and brand of crank.
once I finish going thru the list of what I want I would have a better idea of when should be done.. thanks for the input.

Why not get the ht383 GM Performance Parts offers and drop it in with supporting mods and a tune to dial in the power? That motor looks like the best swap unless you go Gen III. Pull on long tube headers, under drive pulleys if you choose, maybe some roller rockers to free up some extra power and 1.6 if you want more lift from the cam and the 340 hp it's rated at would be closer to 380 with a really good tune.
