Without going to look, I think it has 4 rows of dome lighting. The biggest shortcoming is only the rearmost one illuminates with the hatch so anything which requires reaching into the truck is poorly illuminated.

I'll be referring to the GM Upfitter wiring diagrams when I do the control. I don't recall where the wire is, but there is a dedicated wire to the cargo area dome light, separate from the other dome lights.

What do you mean reaching in? As in, popping the glass only, rather than opening the tailgate?

On my 2019 I believe all of the interior dome lights illuminate when opening the tailgate, rather than just the rearmost (3rd row) dome light.

No, I mean if the 3rd row is folded and my cargo is on the 3rd row seat back, verses on the underfloor storage lid. I can easily reach items in or on the underfloor storage while standing upright behind the truck, but I really have to lean into the truck and stretch to reach items on the 3rd row seat back, hence "reaching into" the truck. The storage lid also tends to shadow items at the front of the underfloor storage compartment.

I understand. Is your vehicle an XL or standard length? Regardless, I know that all of the variants of the 2021+ are longer than the 2020.

Standard. There's 90"+ behind the front seats, so almost as long as an older XL.

I got 2 of the lights installed but not wired today. The camera doesn’t show the difference in brightness very well as if auto adjusts the exposure to compensate. The photos were taken mid-afternoon with the garage lights off. Notice the difference in shadows from the Coke bottle.

Factory Interior lights (all on because right rear door is open)

Factory + 2x rock lights (powered by benchtop power suppy in this photo)

The rock lights are a bit more yellow than the factory interior lights as I purchased nature white vs cool white lights. The lights are located in the head liner, about 3" forward of the 3rd row coat hooks.

I'm looking forward to getting a couple more on the underside of the hatch, and the wiring complete.

No photos (phone died as I was about to take the first one) but the 2 in the hatch are installed. I'm still powering them with a benchtop supply but the hatch button on the key fob now commands the sun to raise

I reassembled the rear spoiler (with reverse lights, see posts here and here) and got a few photos this evening.

Factory cargo area lighting. I'm missing a few trim panels as I still have to drop the headliner and access the rear hatch one more time for my digital rear view mirror install.

2 Rigid A-series high output rock lights in the headliner and 2 more in the rear hatch (plus the factory cargo area light). Wiring to the hatch lights passes through the central grommet. Reverse light wires pass through the left grommet to the spoiler.

The hatch lights also illuminate a usable area behind the truck. You can also see the spoiler mounted reverse lights in this image.

This location angles the lights slightly into the truck.

And the headliner lights are angled toward the center of the truck.

My temporary solution to power the cargo area and reverse lights. I have a few more things to do before tackling the wiring for these lights.
