Hello guys, i decided to join the group and make a profile as i have utilized the advice of you guys for awhile now so thank you.

I have a 01 Yukon 4wd with 5.3 motor, I am changing the plugs on it and am finding conflicting advice on the correct gap.

I bought the 41962 plugs that were recommended to the year and model and they come as .040 pre-gapped. My Haynes manual suggest NGK plugs, and a .060 for the V8 and the year. So to say the least I am confused of the gap and what I should do for these specific AC-Delco plugs. Any help would be appreciated! Also about to tackle the Intake manifold on the beast, so any pointers on that are cool to.

Point O-Six was the original spec for the gap on the old plugs. It was later changed to .040" for all LS engines. Use the 41-962s and you'll be fine. This plug btw is a double platinum set at .043". The original was 41-985 and it's current replacement is 41-162.

Gotchya, so keep with the 41962's at .040 and I will be fine? You said they come in at .043? Rock auto and Amazon have them posted as .040. So if they all gap at .043 like you said should i gap them down to .040? or vice versa.

I got that number from either ACDelco or RockAuto. Just check the gap, adjusting it can damage the electrode because they are so small and more fragile than the old ones.

Checking mine, one was out slightly and without touching the electrode, pulled the ground wire back with pliers and then bumped it back to .040 off my work bench.

Awesome thank you! And that's one way to do it. I'll just keep them at the gapping they have unless it's obviously not right. I will stay in the range of .040 to .043 anything lower or higher will be adjusted
