unknown at this time.
Put it in neutral and press the 4lo button. Do you hear and feel kind of a big clunk? I quiter one when you press 4hi? If so, then your shift motor is likely working and you should inspect the front axle actuator and feedback switch for issues.

I'm having similar issues. My 4 hi works but can't get 4 low to engage. I know where the front axle actuator is, but is the feed back switch the button I push on the dash or is there another "switch" under the car? And what's the best way to test?

I forgot to say when I push the 4 low switch it just flashes. I also just replaced the transfer case motor. Also I'm hoping that me posting this on this persons thread instead of starting my own.
